MISSION

I space provides a Chicago-based gallery and a public forum for the visual, performing and design arts of the College of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Its mission is to encourage the exploration, experimentation and understanding of the arts as a vibrant expression of human experience and intellectual discourse through exhibitions, performances, classes, and lecture-demonstrations.

DESCRIPTION

With over 2500 square feet of exhibition area, a rigorous exhibition program and a beautiful interior designed by UIUC professor of Architecture, Hubert White, the gallery is one of the most desirable exhibiting spaces in the city.

LOCATION

The gallery is located in the heart of the River North Gallery district, an area composed of art galleries, architectural offices, furniture and other design retail outlets. Street metered parking is available as well as pay parking lots on Huron Street, Wells Street and Orleans, all within one block of the gallery. There are numerous cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood. The proximity to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Arts Club of Chicago, Terra Museum and other cultural organizations make this area a highly regarded destination for residents of Chicago and visitors to the city alike.
